Type Locality and Naming

Southwestern-most Inner Mongolia. The Nuorgong Gr was named by Zheng Zhaochang in 1981. The group is established at Shabugengci and Taklinobo, west of Bayin-Nuorgong-Zhonggaxiu, Alxa Zuoqi, Inner Mongolia.

Synonym: (诺尔公群)


Lithology and Thickness

The group is a low-grade metamorphosed series dominated by marine clastic rock, and the top consists of dolomitic limestone and argillaceous dolomite with stromatolites. For details, see the entries on the Shabugengci Fm and Taklinobo Fm. The total thickness is recorded as over 6000 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It is in unconformable contact with the underlying Alxa Gr.

Upper contact

It is in conformable contact with the Bayinxibie Gr.

Regional extent

Southwestern-most Inner Mongolia. The Nuorgong Gr spreads mainly in Shabugengci, Gezihudug, Taklin Obo, Aduzhangmeng Mt., Bayanhala and Shalataohai areas, west of Bayan Nuorgong-Zhonggaxiu, Alxa Zuoqi, Inner Mongolia.
